What We Do and Why It Matters: A Look Inside Literacy Lightbulb

Have you ever looked around your school and thought, “We need something more—but I’m not sure what”?

Maybe your teachers are doing their best, but students are still struggling to meet grade-level expectations.
Maybe you’ve invested in PD before, but it didn’t quite stick.
Or maybe you’re looking for a partner who can help make things better—without adding more to your plate.

That’s where we come in.

Who We Are (and Who We’re For)

The Literacy Lightbulb™ team is made up of seasoned educators who specialize in making complex language arts concepts clear, actionable, and practical for real classrooms. But we don’t stop there.

We partner with schools and districts to address the deeper challenges that affect teaching and learning. Whether you’re trying to improve test scores, engage your strongest students, or support teachers who feel stuck—we help turn insights into action.

What We Offer

We provide four core services—each designed to work together or stand on their own:

1. Literacy Audits

We conduct school and district-level literacy audits to identify patterns in instruction, pinpoint gaps, and highlight existing strengths. These audits serve as a springboard for setting priorities, aligning initiatives, and building a more cohesive literacy plan.

2. Professional Development & Coaching

We support teachers and literacy coaches with PD that’s timely, relevant, and responsive to what’s actually happening in classrooms. From short strategy sessions to multi-month coaching cycles, we build the capacity of your team to meet evolving student needs.

3. Student Programming

We design and deliver high-impact student programming during the school day and beyond. Our offerings include:

  • Before and after-school tutoring
  • Tier II literacy interventions
  • Creative writing residencies
  • Summer reading experiences
  • School-wide literacy assemblies

We build programs that students look forward to—and that support your school’s instructional goals.

4. Strategic Consulting

We collaborate with school leaders to refine instructional systems, align staff development to student needs, and support the implementation of sustainable, high-impact practices. Our goal is to help schools build internal coherence—without burnout.

Why It Works

Everything we do is grounded in research, shaped by experience, and tailored to your unique context. We believe that when educators are supported and students are engaged, growth follows.

But real partnership is more than a service—it’s a mindset. We listen, adapt, and stay invested in your success.
